Sending the online request is one option available to contact the reference asking that he or she submit a letter or to verify the letter submitted by you.  Once the reference has responded to the request the letter is “locked” and the status appears as “Reference Provided” to employers. Although this does not guarantee authenticity, it makes it less likely that the letter was intentionally falsified.

To send the request, click the box next to “Send email request for online letter submission or approval” and Save Changes. The email will be sent to the address listed for the reference.
